Pantenus was a Bishop?

Pantenus was a Bishop?
The end of the second century, St.Thomas Christians came into closer contacts with Alexandria. The effects of this contacts, the Alexandrian Church sent a missionary to Malankara for spiritual guidance and Pastoral care. That missionary named as Pantenus came to Malankara and he gave the spiritual knowledge to the Malankara Church people. We have only a few historical documents to get idea about the mission of Pantenus in Malankara. Some historians says he was a Bishop. (JOSEPH THOMAS, Universal Pronouncing Dictionary of Biography and Mythology,London, 1901. p.664.)
Tell me the realities?
